“All writers are vain, selfish and lazy, and at the very bottom of their motives lies a mystery. Writing a book is a long, exhausting struggle, like a long bout of some painful illness. One would never undertake such a thing if one were not driven by some demon whom one can neither resist nor understand.” —George Orwell in England, Your England (via wordpainting) (via booklover)

“Driving in my big black car, nothing can go wrong. Nothing can hurt me. Nothing can touch me. Why should I care? The lights above, oh yes. I see the stars above.”

To my fair lady / Sakura Mizuki

The cherry blossoms,

The East wind blew them away

To my fair lady

She welcomes my love

Eternal and enduring,

That is their depth

Words can sway with time

But my fondness for your smile

Lasts through time and all

The sad violin

Plays the one song you ever wrote;

Heartbreaking notes,

Proofs of your love,

Reminiscent of your tears;

Treasure to my ear

I had loved you,

And as the coffin lid closes

On your lovely face,

I love you still.

Our ways may part in this world

But the cherry blossoms always,

And we will be reunited again next spring.

De chagrin, je meurs »”

End of Love / End of Summer

Pour toi, une rose,

Pour moi, je l’espère, ton Cœur.

Dis-moi oui ici ;

Devant un autel

De fleurs à l’aube de l’hiver

Et embrasse-moi.

Par un doux baiser,

Scellons nos destins et partons,

Portés par le vent.

Nous irons à son gré,

Ici, là, là-bas ou ailleurs

Sous le bleu ciel.

Laisse ton voile,

Nous avons pour geôlier,

Notre amour seul.

À la nuit tombée,

Mes grands bras te berceront.

Dans leur étreinte,

Tu dormiras

À la belle étoile,

Et fera un beau rêve.

Dame Nature

Protège ma bien-aimée

À son réveil

Le vent s’en ira,

Je m’en irai ; alors un

Pâle septembre.

Sakura Mizuki

In the Garden of Eden, Sheryl St. Germain

poetry365:

No one tells much about it,
but there were vultures in the Garden of Eden,
Turkey vultures, to be exact.
Dark eagles, they would soar like gods
voiceless, their wings held out in blessing,
their unfeathered heads the red jewels
of the sky of the garden.

They were vegetarian then.
There were no roadside kills,
no bones to pick, no dead flesh to bloom, ripen.

And they were happy.
They could not imagine
what they would become.

“Lost opportunities, lost possibilities, feelings we can never get back. That’s part of what it means to be alive. But inside our heads - at least that’s where I imagine it - there’s a little room where we store those memories. A room like the stacks in this library. And to understand the workings of our own heart we have to keep on making new reference cards. We have to dust things off every once in awhile, let in fresh air, change the water in the flower vases. In other words, you’ll live forever in your own private library.” —Haruki Murakami (via laurataylor)
